Skin Walker Ranch

The 512-acre ranch has been the subject of continuous study since its 1996 purchase by Robert Bigelow’s NIDS, and subsequent ownership and study by Brandon Fugal.

The ranch lies in the Uintah Basin of northeastern Utah, a region with a long local history of anomalous reports. It came to wider attention after its 1996 purchase by Robert Bigelow’s National Institute for Discovery Science, which mounted a study of the property; Bigelow’s later involvement with government UAP work through AAWSAP has kept the site in circulation in those discussions. The popular account derives largely from the book “Hunt for the Skinwalker” by journalist George Knapp and biochemist Colm Kelleher, drawn from that NIDS period, and the ranch has since passed to further ownership and televised study.

Almost everything claimed of the place — cattle mutilations, lights, cryptid sightings, and other phenomena — rests on witness testimony and private investigation rather than independently verifiable documentation, and much of it is heavily contested.

We treat Skinwalker Ranch as a body of reports rather than a body of established fact. We catalogue what is claimed, by whom, when, and where, distinguish the testimony from the few documents that exist, and note plainly that the central claims remain unverified. Where a mundane explanation is available we record it; where the account simply cannot be checked, we say that too.
