Unexplained Events
Single documented events — a blast, a signal, a sudden physical change — whose cause is recorded as unresolved.
ALSO KNOWN AS: Anomalous Events · Unexplained Phenomena
Some entries in this archive are not disappearances, artefacts or sightings. They are events: something measurable happened, at a known place and on a known date, and the cause has never been agreed. The Tunguska event of 1908 is the clearest example — instruments across Europe recorded it, two thousand square kilometres of Siberian forest recorded it, and no fragment of the object that caused it has ever been produced.
What distinguishes this subcategory from speculation is that the event itself is not in doubt. The seismographs, the barographs, the surveyed ground: these are the record. The open question is narrower and harder — what did it, how large was it, and where did it go. Cases filed here tend to carry a long scientific argument rather than a long folklore, and the honest account of them is usually a description of which researchers found what, and where they still disagree.
